People v Green, Court of Appeals of California, 2nd Appellate District, Div.5, June 4 2010: This case is an interesting one as it relates to the lower court's refusal to allow the Defense to adduce eyewitness expert evidence.

Barber v. Thomas U.S Supreme Court: 09-520. June 7 2010. In an action by inmates claiming that the Bureau of Prisons' (BOP) good-time credit calculation method was unlawful because 18 U.S.C. section 3624(b)(1) requires a calculation based on the length of the term of imprisonment imposed by the sentencing judge, not the length of time the prisoner actually served, the Ninth Circuit's affirming of summary judgment for defendants is affirmed where, because the BOP's method for calculating good time credit reflects the most natural reading of the statute, it is lawful.

United States v. Juvenile Male U.S Supreme Court: 09-940. June 7 2010. The Court dealt with the question of Juvenile Sex Offender Registration, and the offender's responsibilities relating to keeping it current under state law.

6/20/10 (NJ): NJ Courts Require Stricter Standards For Experts Says Report It's often the first question police ask when arriving at the scene of a crime: Did anyone see who did it? That question has been the linchpin of criminal prosecutions for hundreds of years. But experts say eyewitness identifications during police lineups are notoriously unreliable and a leading cause of wrongful convictions. The mind plays tricks, witnesses can feel pressured to deliver the ID on a suspect, and mistakes just happen.

6/18/10 (TN): Defense Entomologist's Evidence Refuted by Prosecution An expert entomologist for the defense has testified that he found several fatal flaws in the prosecution's case in relation to the time of death findings of Adam and Samantha Chrismer. 6/16/10 (FLA): Expert Appraisers Likely To Be Involved in BP Claims The BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill has affected countless small and large businesses operating in the coastal Gulf State regions. If you own a business that has suffered a loss due to the rupture and release of oil in the Gulf of Mexico, then you may have a claim to present to British Petroleum as well as other insurance and emergency loan organizations. The greater your company's financial loss, the more important it is to provide legal, court-approved documentation outlining the value of your business.

6/15/10 (CA): Prosecutors Should Have Disclosed Experts' Misconduct San Francisco prosecutors are inviting defense attorneys to challenge more than 500 convictions that were based in part on the work of two expert witnesses - the former technician at the heart of the police drug lab scandal and a toxicology supervisor who vouched for tests in her previous job that she hadn't performed.
